LACTATION SUPPORT
Placing baby on your chest immediately after birth is the best place your baby can be. In the lactation world we call it the ‘Golden Hour’. Your baby will most often initiate their first feeding at the breast within the first few hours after birth. In my prenatal breastfeeding consultation you will learn about the natural process of lactation. We will discuss how to recognize early feeding cues and tips and tricks that will help you maintain a comfortable latch. Breasts and babies come in all different sizes and shapes, we will learn about different breastfeeding positions and how to establish and maintain successful milk removal to ensure an abundant milk supply. In my postpartum lactation consultation we will discuss any questions that may have come up along your path.

To prepare for a consult, have all your questions and concerns ready. I would love to observe a full feed and do a full assessment on baby. Hopefully you can schedule a time where baby is awake and ready to breastfeed.

I try to keep all my consults to one hour. We talk about concerns and challenges, we do a weigh and feed, and we set a few goals. We don’t want anyone feeling overwhelmed when I leave! I try to keep things simple with each visit!

Most definitely not! I work with many families who exclusively formula feed. We discuss slow paced bottle feeding methods, bottle refusal, and many other issues to help you and your baby in your feeding methods.

I work most days of the week, I try to make myself available within 24 hours of you reaching out, most often proving same day or next day services.
